A man stabbed and wounded four people on Wednesday at a downtown office building in Columbus, Ohio, in east U.S., before being shot by the police, local media reports said.

The incident reportedly took place at about 12:40 p.m. local time inside the building which houses the Ohio Attorney General's office and Miami-Jacobs Career College, the reports quoted a Columbus police spokesman as saying.

Three of the victims were in critical condition at a downtown hospital, while the fourth incurred minor injuries, the reports added.

The suspect, who was shot and wounded by the police, also remained in critical condition at the hospital. It remained unknown what had led to the attack and whether there was any connection between the suspect and the victims.
