A senior military official said Monday that China hopes to continue to deepen its relations with the Swedish military.
Chen Bingde, chief of the General Staff of the People's Liberation Army (PLA) and a member of the Central Military Commission, made the remark while holding a talk with Supreme Commander of the Swedish Armed Forces Sverker Goranson.
The Chinese and Swedish militaries have witnessed sound development in recent years, Chen said, citing high-level mutual exchanges and cooperative military training exercises.
China holds a positive attitude toward boosting cooperation between the two armies, Chen said.
Chen acknowledged the stable development of the bilateral ties between China and Sweden since they established diplomatic ties more than 60 years ago.
"China attaches importance to developing cooperation with Sweden and hopes to work together with Sweden to boost the development of bilateral ties," Chen said.
Goranson said the Swedish government and people hope to consolidate their friendship with China and make more achievements in political, economic and cultural cooperation.
Close cooperation between the two militaries in recent years has been beneficial for the development of both armies, as well as for global peace and stability, Goranson said.
