Japan, India to hold joint naval exercises

Japan's Maritime Self-Defense Force announced on Tuesday that JMSDF and Indian navy are going to have joint naval exercises on Saturday in Sagami Bay, Kanagawa Prefecture.

Japan and India participated in multilateral exercises previously, but this is the first bilateral drill.

According to the local media, Indian navy sent four vessels to Japan, including a destroyer, a supply ship, a frigate ship and a corvette. All vessels have arrived JMSDF's Yokosuka base on Tuesday.

The JMSDF side, two MSDF destroyers, a rescue aircraft and a patrol helicopter will participate in the one-day drill.

The two sides will exercise the formation training and rescuing civilian vessels.
