Two explosions hit the Libyan capital of Tripoli early Sunday, killing at least two people and wounding several others, a Libyan security official said.

The first blast was caused by a grenade outside a police academy on Omar al-Mukhtar avenue, he said on condition of anonymity. The second was a car bomb near the Interior Ministry but there were no casualties.

The explosions occurred on the Eid holiday, which marks the end of the holy month of Ramadan.

The security situation was deteriorating in Libya with increasing incidents of bombing, abduction and robbery, while a large sum of weapons in the hands of civilians have become the top security challenge.
