Two Palestinians infected with H1N1 virus, known as Swine flu, died Wednesday in the West Bank, medical sources said.

Asaad Ramlawi, spokesman of the Palestinian National Authority (PNA) ministry of health, told Xinhua that the two Palestinians are aged over 70 years old.

Death toll due to H1N1 infection in the West Bank has climbed to 17, while more than 566 people were infected with the virus, 25 of them from the Gaza Strip ruled by Islamic Hamas movement.

Ramlawi said most of the deceased patients died because their bodies were weak and lacked immunity against viruses, adding that most of those who were infected with the virus received proper treatment from hospitals.

In 2011, 11 Palestinians died due to the virus, said Ramlawi.
