South Korea's President-elect Park Geun-hye on Monday nominated a former ruling party lawmaker as presidential chief of staff.

The nomination of Huh Tae-yeol, a three-term lawmaker of Park's conservative ruling Saenuri Party, came a week before she replaces incumbent president Lee Myung-bak.

Park also nominated presidential secretaries for state planning, civil affairs and public relations, offering a clearer picture of the organizational layout of the new presidential office.

A day ago, she appointed Hyun Oh-seok of the Korean Development Institute (KDI) as the deputy prime minister tasked with overseeing economic affairs.

She also nominated Ryoo Kihl-jae, an expert on the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), as unification minister.
