Huang introduced China.org.cn as a 13-year-old online news portal whose principal strengths lie in multi-language news reporting and data base management. “It [the Website] also presents different views from scholars, writers and economists,” he added..

Huang continued: "Very often, we are treated by foreign countries as an official website of the Communist Party of China (CPC). For many big events, though, we should be on the site for breaking news."

Pesi Fonua, an editor from Matangi Tonga Online, one of the most influential websites in Tonga, asked why China.org.cn is among the leading sources used by foreigners searching for news about China.

In response, Huang pointed to the Website's success utilizing search engine optimization, as well as the fact that published stories appear in the kind of standard journalistic language which is often lacking on many other websites in China. Huang also mentioned the company's emphasis on detailed reporting which meets foreigners' demands for in-depth news coverage.

They also discussed issues on social media, Internet security and China's netizen population.

Patisela Eteuati Tolovaa, the rotating head of the delegation and Samoan congressman concluded that the delegation's main purpose is to see how China is tackling the problem of poverty.

"Communication is central to development," he said. "Internet information is important for small nations like us because of our isolation."
