Chinese Vice President Li Yuanchao on Tuesday addressed the second China-Vietnam Youth Gala, in Nanning, capital city of South China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.

Chinese President Xi Jinping and Vietnamese President Truong Tan Sang decided to hold the second China-Vietnam Youth Gala and have sent congratulatory messages to the gathering.

Li said, in recent years, China and Vietnam have adhered to the principle of long-term stability, facing the future, good-neighborliness and friendship, and all-round cooperation, as well as the four-point spirit of being good neighbors, friends, comrades and partners.

The four-point spirit contains the common interests of the two countries as well as the common aspirations of the two peoples, he said.

Facing the future, the two sides should forge ahead with the four-point spirit no matter what problems and disturbances arise, he said.

Li hoped the two sides will carry forward their traditional friendship, adhere to peaceful negotiation and friendly cooperation, and act as good neighbors.

He called on the two sides to act as good friends that treat each other sincerely, featuring mutual respect, trust and support.

He called on China and Vietnam to cherish their profound friendship, respect, trust and help each other and be sincere friends forever.

"The socialist road is a common choice of our two countries, which face shared opportunities as well as challenges," Li said, hoping China and Vietnam will increase exchanges on national governance, party building and support.

Li attributed the economic foundation to win-win cooperation.

China has been Vietnam's biggest trade partner for nine consecutive years. Bilateral trade exceeded 50 billion U.S. dollars in 2012, with an aim to double that by 2017, according to Li.

Premiers of the two countries reached agreement on pushing forward the strategic partnership in a comprehensive way through maritime, land and financial cooperation, Li said.

Youths are the future of our friendship, Li said, urging them to pass on the baton of friendly relations from generation to generation.
