Chinese banker gets Paksitani award

Jiang Jianqing, the Chairman of the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (ICBC), got Hilal-i-Quaid-i-Azam Award from Pakistan's Ambassador to China Masood Khalid in recognition of his meritorious services to the cause of strengthening Pakistan-China relations in an investiture ceremony held at Pakistan House in Beijing on Monday, September 29, 2014.

The citation read out at the ceremony highlighted Mr. Jiang's impressive career in banking and finance, spanning over a quarter of a century. Under his leadership, ICBC has financed several bilateral economic projects between China and Pakistan. His role has been critical in expanding the scale of the bank's engagements in Pakistan. Timely delivery of financial resources from ICBC has ensured completion of projects within planned timelines. Such efficient services delivery by ICBC continue not only to improve the economic condition of Pakistan and it's people but also provide an impetus to strengthening all- weather and time tested friendship between the two sides.

Lauding the role of ICBC, Ambassador Masood Khalid appreciated Jiang's efforts in cementing the relations between the two neighbors. "Mr. Jiang Jianqing is a great friend of Pakistan and an ardent advocate of Pakistan-China friendship and his role has been pivotal in allowing Pakistan-China cooperation touching new heights. Ambassador Khlaid welcomed ICBC's presence in Pakistan and hoped that it would continue to play a productive role in strengthening Pakistan-China economic cooperation, particularly in banking and financial sector. He also hoped that the Chairman would visit Pakistan in the near future to give further impetus to the two –way cooperation.

Mr. Jiang in his speech thanked Pakistan for the honor and vowed to continue with his endeavors towards promoting ties between the two countries. He said that since the establishment of diplomatic ties between China and Pakistan 63 years ago, the governments of both countries have always attached great importance to developing bilateral relations, and been committed to deepening bilateral strategic cooperative partnership. Pakistani people love China and Chinese people, they completely trust China as a sincere and special friend and partner. Meanwhile, China also cherishes Pakistan as a good neighbor, good friend, good partner and good brother, he added.
