Officials in the US city of Cleveland have released a video of the fatal police shooting of a 12-year-old black child, which shows the boy pointing a pellet gun around a park before police arrive.

Tamir Rice was shot by a patrol officer on Saturday after a 911 call reported someone pointing a gun at people in a park.

Police dispatch communications have also been made public.

"1910 West Boulevard. In the park by the youth center, there's a black male behind the swings. He's wearing a camouflage hat, a gray jacket with black sleeves. So he keeps pulling a gun out of his pants and pointing it at people."

"Radio. Shots fired. Male down. Black male. Maybe 20. Black revolver. Black Hand gun. I'm sending (inaudible)".

The video shows the boy walking back and forth in the snowy park, pointing the gun in different directions.

The officers involved in the shooting say they told Rice to raise his hands three times before he reached for his pellet gun and was shot.

About 300 people demonstrated in Cleveland on Tuesday, tying up rush hour traffic.

The Rice shooting is going to be reviewed by a Grand Jury to determine whether charges are warranted.
