Russian President Vladimir Putin arrived in Ankara on Monday on a visit aimed at finding new ways to enhance ties between Turkey and Russia.
During his stay, Putin will co-chair the 5th meeting of Turkey-Russia High-Level Cooperation Council with his Turkish counterpart, Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
Established in 2010, the council's ultimate objective is to raise bilateral trade from the current 33 billion U.S. dollars to 100 billion dollars by the year of 2020.
The meeting will also seek ways for Turkey to increase its scope and amount of foodstuff export to Russia after Moscow decided to impose counter-sanctions against European Union countries over the Ukrainian crisis.
Putin and Erdogan are also expected to discuss developments in the Middle East and Ukraine.
