India said on Thursday that it has exchanged with Pakistan a list of their nuclear installations according to a bilateral pact in place since 1992.

"India and Pakistan today exchanged, through diplomatic channels simultaneously at New Delhi and Islamabad, the list of nuclear installations and facilities covered under the Agreement on the Prohibition of Attack Against Nuclear Installations," a spokesperson for the Indian External Affairs Ministry said.

Under the pact, inked by the two countries nearly two decades back, both India and Pakistan are to inform each other of nuclear installations and facilities every year.

India and Pakistan are both nuclear powers, but they are also arch rivals and have fought at least three major wars over the disputed territory of Kashmir in the last 60 years.
