Lawyers of the families of passengers on Malaysia Airlines flight MH370 say they will begin to negotiate for compensations, after Malaysian authorities declared the plane's disappearance an accident. Director General of Malaysia's Department of Civil Aviation, said that all 239 people on board, including 154 Chinese nationals, are presumed dead after more than 10 months of the incident.

The head of a legal service team for the families told media that they will do their best to start negotiations with the Malaysian side to strive for a reasonable solution to related claims, and to safeguard the legitimate interests of the victims' families.

International civil aviation laws limit the claim time to 2 years after the aircraft's supposed arrival time. Usually there are two points at which a claim can be made, when an official announcement of a crash is made or when the final investigation report is released.
