Chefchaouen, Morocco

Almost all of the buildings of Chefchaouen in Morocco are painted a beautiful shade of blue.

Chefchaouen, locacted in Morocco, is set against the Rif mountains and almost all of its buildings are painted a beautiful shade of blue.

It's thought that the walls, doorways, stairs and pavements were painted blue by Jewish refugees who fled here during the 1930s after Hitler rose to power. In Judaism, blue represents the heaven and it serves as a reminder to inhabitants to lead spiritual lives.
