Former Afghan president goes shopping at Silk Market

Former Afghan president Hamid Karzai visited the Silk Market to go shopping on Tuesday evening, the Legal Evening News reported.

Karzai arrived at the Silk Market, a famous shopping market in downtown Beijing, at 6:30 pm, and greeted staff in Chinese. He received a dragon-pattern tea set as a gift from Zhang Yongping, president of the Silk Street Market Group. Karzai spent 2,500 yuan (US$403) on a blue silk tie, six silk scarves and three woolen scarves later on during his trip,

Karzai was in Beijing for the first annual meeting of the Non-governmental Forum of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA) which was held from May 25 to 26 in Beijing.
