Car bomb goes off in Syria's Hasakah, killing at least 5

At least five people were killed and five others wounded when a car bomb went off near a government building in northeastern province of Hasakah on Tuesday, state news agency SANA reported.
The explosive-laden vehicle went off in front of water resourses department in northwestern Hasakah, said SANA.
The blast came a day after two suicide car bombings tore separately through a government troops' checkpoint and a position of Kurdish security forces in Hasakah, in which over 30 people were killed and tens of others wounded, mostly women and children.
SANA accused the Islamic State (IS) militants of being behind the blasts, saying the terror-labeled group sent over 50 booby-trapped cars into Hasakah in recent months.
Syrian foreign ministry also condemned the attacks, saying the terrorist groups want to "paralyze" lives of people and children by their suicide bombings.
On June 25, IS militants unleashed a major offensive, storming southern part of Hasakah. At the end of July, Syrian army and Kurdish fighters managed to drive IS militants out of the province.
Separately, rebel mortar fire on Tuesday killed four people and wounded 20 others in Hamadaniyeh area in northwestern province of Aleppo, said SANA.
