Myanmar announces 54 more parliament representatives-elect

Myanmar's Union Election Commission (UEC) announced 54 more parliament representative-elects to the Region or State Parliament in eight regions or states as part of the second day election result on Tuesday.

The regions or states include Mandalay, Mon, Ayeyawaddy, Yangon, Kachin, Kayah, Taninthayi and Magway.

Of the 54 seats in the Region or State Parliament, the opposition National League for Democracy (NLD) won 49, while the ruling Union Solidarity and Development Party (USDP) took two. The Kachin State Democracy Party has two and the Mon National Party one.

So far, a total of 106 representatives-elect in the Region or State Parliament have been announced, of which the NLD dominates with 96.

Up to now, the NLD has secured a total of 145 parliamentary seats in two levels of parliament including 49 in the House of Representatives and 96 in the Region or State Parliament.

A total of 6,038 candidates from 91 political parties and 310 independent runners are competing for more than 1,000 seats at three levels of parliament in Myanmar's election held on Sunday.

Of the total, 1,733 candidates are running for seats of the House of Representatives (Lower House), 886 for the House of Nationalities (Upper House), and 3,419 for Region or State Parliament.
