Mr. Masood Khalid, Ambassador of Pakistan to China visited Hunan Province on 23-24 April 2017 to inaugurate the plantation of "China-Pakistan Friendship Bamboo Tree" along with Vice Governor He Baoxiang and Madam Geng Ying and Professor Geng Yan- daughters of late General Geng Biao.

These saplings are originally from bamboos which were planted earlier by General Geng Biao in Chinese Embassy in Karachi, while he was posted as Ambassador of China to Pakistan from 1956-1959. The ceremony was held at the ancestral home of General Geng Biao in Liling city.

Speaking at the event, the Ambassador paid tributes to Geng Biao's family as friends of Pakistan over generations and appreciated General Geng Biao's contribution in laying foundation of friendship between the two nations. He said that the successful plantation of bamboo trees proved that the relations between Pakistan and China were embedded in the same soil.

Earlier, the Ambassador held meeting with Mr. Xu Dazhe, Governor of Hunan Province. During the meeting, the governor briefed the Ambassador about his province and proposed to explore further possibilities of cooperation in industry, agriculture, culture, services and tourism sectors.

The Ambassador congratulated the Governor on assuming the office and on arranging a successful friendship tree plantation event to foster Pakistan-China relations.
