Chinese State Councilor Yang Jiechi Thursday met separately with senior security representatives from South Africa, Brazil and India.

South African Minister of State Security David Mahlobo, Brazilian Institutional Security Minister Sergio Etchegoyen, and Indian National Security Advisor Ajit Doval were in Beijing to attend the seventh meeting of BRICS senior representatives on security issues.

Yang said it accords with the common interests of the BRICS countries to strengthen their partnership, calling for the five countries to deepen communication, strengthen strategic mutual trust, enhance cooperation on politics and security issues, safeguard international justice, and promote practical cooperation in various fields in order to benefit the peoples of all countries.

"China stands ready to work with all sides to prepare for the 2017 BRICS summit to be held in Xiamen, Fujian Province, in September," Yang said.

Mahlobo, Etchegoyen, and Doval said they expect to further strengthen the partnership under the BRICS mechanism, expand cooperation in broader areas, and promote peace and development in the world.

Yang also separately exchanged views with the three senior representatives on bilateral relations, international and regional issues and multilateral affairs, and set forth China's position on bilateral issues and major problems.

On Wednesday, Yang met with Russian Security Council Secretary Nikolai Patrushev, and the two countries agreed to strengthen communication and coordination.
