A manhunt was underway Wednesday for a gunman who killed three people and critically wounded two others at a granite business in U.S. state of Maryland, authorities said.

The gunman, identified as 37-year-old Radee Labeeb Prince, opened fire with a handgun at around 9:00 a.m. at Advanced Granite Solutions, a granite supplier near a business park in Edgewood, roughly 40 kilometers northeast of Baltimore, according to Harford County Sherriff's Office.

Sheriff Jeffrey Gahler told a press conference that all the victims were employees of the company, and two wounded were in critical condition.

Prince had worked as a machine operator at the granite business for about four months and was scheduled to work on Wednesday, Gahler said.

The sheriff said deputies arrived at the scene within minutes of the report of the shooting. Considered armed and dangerous, Prince was believed to flee in a black GMC Acadia with Delaware plates.

"This does appear to be a targeted attack, limited to that business," Gahler said. "We do not believe that anybody else was involved in this incident."

Maryland Governor Larry Hogan said the survivors had gunshots wounds to the head, adding that state police were working with federal and local law enforcement officers on tracking on the suspect.

Dave Fitz, a spokesman for the Baltimore FBI field office, said investigators were treating the shooting as an incident of workplace violence, and didn't see ties to terrorism.

Local officials said schools and business in the Edgewood area were placed on lockdown as a precaution.

Prince is also wanted in connection with another shooting that occurred hours later in his hometown of Wilmington, Delaware, according to a police advisory. There were no immediate reports of casualties in the second shooting.

Local newspaper said Prince had several prior arrests and run-ins with law enforcement.
