The third Lancang-Mekong Cooperation (LMC) foreign ministers' meeting will be held on Dec. 15 in Dali, southwest China's Yunnan Province, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Geng Shuang said Thursday.

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi and Cambodian Foreign Minister Prak Sokhonn will co-chair the meeting, Geng told a press briefing.

Lao Foreign Minister Saleumxay Kommasith, Union Minister for International Cooperation of Myanmar U Kyaw Tin, Thai Foreign Minister Don Pramudwinai and Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh will also attend the meeting.

The six countries along the Mekong (known as Lancang in the Chinese stretch) officially started the LMC process in March 2016.

"The LMC is a new type of sub-regional cooperation platform established by the six countries along the Mekong River," Geng said.

The LMC is committed to deepening good neighborliness and pragmatic cooperation among the six countries, promoting the economic and social development of sub-regional countries, building a community with shared future of peace and prosperity among Lancang-Mekong countries, to help boost ASEAN community building and regional integration, he said.

He said China hopes the third LMC foreign ministers' meeting could consolidate previous outcomes, summarize previous experiences and exchange views on future development, to make preparations for the second Lancang-Mekong Leaders' Meeting next year.
