Iranian Foreign Ministry on Friday dismissed the recent report by the UN secretary general on human rights situation in Iran as "invalid and worthless."

"As we have witnessed in the past, reports like this are replete with lots of fundamental problems both in nature and procedures," the spokesman Bahram Qasemi said in a statement.

Qasemi referred to the report prepared by Antonio Guterres for the ongoing meeting of the UN Human Rights Council meeting.

The UN chief's report on Iran's human rights situation suffers a lot of "flaws and problems," the statement said, adding that the report is based on "unreliable, false and completely invalid sources" and is politically-motivated.

Besides, the report is blind about "Iran's progress and determined efforts in this field," the statement said.
