A Red Arrows plane has crashed with the pilot ejecting, media reports said on Tuesday.

A spokesman for the Welsh Ambulance Service said: "We were called shortly before 1:30 p.m. this afternoon to reports an aircraft had crashed at RAF Valley in Holyhead."

Ministry of Defence tweeted "We are aware of an incident today at RAF Valley involving a Hawk aircraft. We are investigating the incident."

The Red Arrows are at the base preparing for the coming display season.

Britain's Red Arrows, officially known as the Royal Air Force (RAF) Aerobatic Team, was established in 1964.
