South Korea's defense ministry on Monday informed the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) of its delegation list for the inter-Korean military talks to be held later this week.

Maj. Gen. Kim Do-gyun, an official of the Ministry of National Defense in charge of inter-Korean affairs, would lead the five-member delegation, composed of officials from the defense and unification ministries, according to Yonhap news agency report.

The list was sent to the DPRK via the western military hotline of the two Koreas and the inter-Korean communications channel at the border village of Panmunjom.

Defense Ministry spokesperson Choi Hyun-soo told a press briefing that preparations were well underway for the general-level inter-Korean talks over military affairs.

After the high-level dialogue held earlier this month, the two Koreas agreed to hold the general-grade military talks to ease military tensions on the Korean Peninsula.

If held as scheduled, it would be the first inter-Korean military talks between general-grade officers since December 2007.
