The Northeast Asian Mayors' Forum-2018 concluded here Tuesday, with city heads of six countries sharing green development experiences and highlighting environmental and ecological issues.

Mayors from 18 cities in six countries, including Ulan Bator, Beijing, Guangzhou, Moscow, Seoul, Busan and Tokyo, as well as more than 300 representatives from international organizations attended the two-day event.

They discussed opportunities to cooperate and share experiences on improving air quality and reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

"As a result of the event, we decided to establish the Secretariat of the Northeast Asian Mayors' Forum with permanent activities, and share information and experiences on how cities are addressing their challenges," Ulan Bator's Mayor Sunduin Batbold said at the closing ceremony of the forum themed "The development of low-carbon cities: Improving air quality and reducing greenhouse gas emissions".

"Also, we decided to hold the forum once every two years in one city selected by participating cities and once in every four years in Ulan Bator," he said.

South Korea's capital Seoul was selected as the host city of the next forum, which will take place in 2020.

Ulan Bator initiated the Northeast Asian Mayors' Forum in 2014.
