Sun Guoxiang, the Chinese Foreign Ministry's special envoy for Asian Affairs, will attend the 21st Century Panglong Peace Conference at the invitation of Myanmar's government, a foreign ministry spokesperson said Tuesday.

According to reports, the third meeting of the 21st Century Panglong Peace Conference will be held on Wednesday.

China supports Myanmar's efforts to advance the country's peace process and achieve national reconciliation, and wishes the meeting success, spokesperson Hua Chunying told a daily press briefing.

She said that China hopes the related parties in Myanmar can adhere to dialogue and consultations to resolve differences peacefully, reach a nationwide ceasefire at an early date, and make conditions for lasting peace, development, and prosperity in the southeast Asian country.

"China will continue to play a constructive role in Myanmar's peace process and national reconciliation according to the will of the concerned parties in Myanmar," Hua said.
