The 14th Beijing-Tokyo Forum, the highest-level platform for public diplomatic communication between China and Japan, will be held in mid-October at Japan's capital city Tokyo.

Co-organized by the China International Publishing Group (CIPG) and the non-profit Japanese organization Genron NPO, the annual session will focus on such topics as promoting mutual trust, cooperation, peace and development.

This year marks the 40th anniversary of the signing of the Treaty of Peace and Friendship between the two countries. Forum attendees are expected to offer suggestions on enhancing practical bilateral cooperation in all fields, at a time when the world faces grave challenges in maintaining the UN framework, promoting equality and cooperation, seeking mutual benefits, and protecting multilateralism and free trade.

A public opinion poll on bilateral ties will be released ahead of the meeting.

Founded in 2005, the forum has been held alternately in Beijing and Tokyo every year, aiming to provide a platform for non-governmental exchanges and improve China-Japan ties through conducting public opinion polls and high-level dialogues.
