Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas on Friday evening accused Israel of working on isolating the West Bank, reported by the Palestinian news agency WAFA.

The report said that Abbas' accusations were made at the opening ceremony of Fatah Party Revolutionary Council held at the headquarters in Ramallah.

"Israel's plans will fail thanks to the steadfastness of the Palestinian people and their adherence to their national rights, which will culminate in the establishment of an independent state with East Jerusalem as its capital," said Abbas.

In his speech, Abbas also mentioned the upcoming meeting of Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) Central Council that will be held in Ramallah on Oct. 28.

"Through the central council, we will agree on putting the mechanisms of implementing our decisions taken by the council to protect our national goals and our people legitimate rights in freedom and independence," said Abbas.

The PLO Central Council is the second highest Palestinian establishment after the Palestinian National Council, or the Palestinian parliament in exile.

The council convened in Ramallah on January to respond to the U.S. President Donald Trump's decision made on Dec. 6 to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.

The council then decided to suspend the Palestinian recognition of Israel until it recognizes the right of the Palestinians to establish their Palestinian state on 1967 border with East Jerusalem as its capital.

It also called on Israel to stop settlement and annul its decision of annexing East Jerusalem, and threatened to freeze all types of security cooperation and severe economic ties with Israel.
