Shots fired near Austrian embassy in Turkey's capital

Several shots were fired overnight near the Austrian embassy in Turkish capital Ankara, state-run Anadolu Agency reported on Sunday.

Shots were fired into to the air from a white car after which security forces rushed to the location and briefly closed roads near the diplomatic complex.

There were no reports of casualties or injuries.

According to news reports, the incident happened around midnight on the Ataturk boulevard in downtown Ankara on which several embassies are located and police are searching for the white automobile.

In August, gunmen, reported to be drunk by the police, shot at the United States embassy, causing no casualties.

The police arrested two man who had previous criminal record in relation to the incident. The U.S. embassy is located on Ataturk boulevard, near the Austrian one.
