Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and U.S. President Donald Trump on Wednesday made a phone call over bilateral relations and recent maritime tensions between Russia and Ukraine, the Turkish Presidency said.

In his call with Trump, Erdogan shared details of his earlier phone calls separately with Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko, during which he expressed expectations that the recent confrontation in Black Sea can be resolved via diplomacy and dialogue.

Erdogan and Trump also discussed bilateral ties and agreed to meet on the sidelines of G20 summit in Argentina this weekend, state-run Anadolu News Agency reported, citing anonymous sources.

On Sunday, Ukraine accused that Russian forces fired on and seized three Ukrainian navy ships near the Kerch Strait.

Moscow says the three ships breached the Russian border and conducted dangerous maneuvers in spite of orders of accompanying vessels from the Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) and Russia's Black Sea Fleet.
