Ukraine and Israel on Monday signed the long-discussed free trade agreement (FTA), the Ukrainian presidential press service said in a statement.

The deal was inked in Jerusalem by Ukrainian First Deputy Prime Minister Stepan Kubiv and Israeli Minister of Economy and Industry Eli Cohen in the presence of Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

The text of the agreement has not been published yet, but earlier local media reported that under the deal Ukraine and Israel will immediately eliminate duties on 70 percent and 80 percent of their respective industrial imports and 6.8 percent and 9.2 percent of agricultural imports.

Within three years, tariffs on Ukraine-made clothes, furniture and glass exported to Israel will also be partially eliminated.

Last year, trade between Ukraine and Israel stood at 761.4 million U.S. dollars, with Ukrainian exports amounting to 580 million dollars.

Ukraine and Israel launched the free trade talks in 2013.
