A three-year-old girl is dead and another six-year-old is critically wounded after a drive-by shooting on Sunday night in St. Louis, U.S. state of Missouri, police said Monday.

The girl, identified as Kenndei Powell, died at a hospital, while the other child is in critical but stable condition, according to police.

The shooting happened around 8:30 p.m.(0130GMT) outside a home on the city's south side.

Two 28-year-old men along with five children aging 3 to 8, including the toddler and the injured, were standing on the sidewalk next to a car with a woman seated inside the vehicle, when a white four-door car drove by and fired shots to the crowd.

Police said only the two children were shot and were taken from the scene for treatment.

No arrests have been made and the case is still under investigation.
