Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Techo Hun Sen on Monday called for joint efforts to combat terrorism in the region following multiple bomb blasts in neighboring Thailand last week.

Speaking at a graduation ceremony of more than 1,400 students at the Police Academy of Cambodia in southern Kandal province, Hun Sen said Cambodia does not allow any terrorist group to use its territory as a shelter.

"We have to be vigilant ... and to make sure that Cambodia does not become a shelter for any terrorist group, though we are not the target of a terror attack," he said. "We don't allow our country to be a place for money laundering, drug trafficking or arms trade."

The prime minister asked the authorities to cooperate well with all relevant stakeholders both in the country and in the region in order to fight terrorism and ensure peace and security in the kingdom.

"We must do our best to fight these problems because they can harm national security," Hun Sen said.

His remarks came after several small bombs went off at different locations in Bangkok, Thailand, on Friday when the ASEAN foreign ministers' meeting and related meetings were being held.
