9 die in two road mishaps in India

Six persons died and one injured in a road mishap between a car and a truck in India's western state of Rajasthan on Friday morning, a local cop told Xinhua over phone.

The accident happened in Hanumangarh district.

According to a police officer, those who died were from in a nearby village, returning home after attending a religious programme in another district. The injured has been sent to a local hospital.

In another accident, three persons died of drowning in the central state of Madhya Pradesh when the car they were traveling in lost control and plunged into a lake. The mishap happened in the state's Bhind district on Thursday night.

The dead bodies had been recovered, but their identities were yet to be confirmed, said media reports.
