Russia has registered 71 new cases of COVID-19 in the last 24 hours, bringing the country's total to 438, official data showed Monday.

Every new case was in Moscow and each patient has been put under isolation, Russia's Federal Service for Supervision on Consumer Rights Protection and Human Well-Being said in a statement.

Every patient had recently traveled to countries hit by the coronavirus in the last two weeks, while their close acquaintances in Russia have been traced and work is underway to place them under medical supervision, according to the statement.

Out of the 438 infected, 17 have so far been discharged after recovering, including one in the last 24 hours, the statement said.
