As the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases continued rising across Canada, many provinces once again urged their residents to follow safety guidelines and restrict social interactions.

Canada reported 2,025 new cases of COVID-19 and another 25 deaths, bringing the total to 208,447 cases and 9,862 deaths, according to CTV.

The latest national-level data indicated daily averages of 2,425 new cases in the past seven days and 74,719 people tested, with 3.1 percent testing positive, according to the Public Health Agency of Canada on Thursday.

The country's provincial and territorial data indicated that an average of close to 1,000 people with COVID-19 was being treated in hospitals each day during the most recent seven days, including around 200 of whom were being treated in intensive care units, said the agency.

Quebec province announced 1,033 new cases of COVID-19 and 20 more deaths on Wednesday, while Ontario province reported 841 new cases and nine more deaths.

British Columbia province confirmed the first outbreak in a school setting and Alberta's premier announced self-isolation after a minister of his provincial government tested positive for COVID-19.

Alberta broke its single-day record for COVID-19 cases on Wednesday, reporting 406 cases, as well as three deaths.
