Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and U.S. "President-elect" Joe Biden talked over the phone on Tuesday and agreed to meet soon, Netanyahu's office said.

Netanyahu spoke with Biden in a "warm conversation," said a statement issued by the Israeli prime minister's office.

Biden "reiterated his deep commitment to the State of Israel and its security," while Netanyahu said that the special bond between the two allies "is a fundamental component of Israel's security and its policy," it said.

The two also agreed to meet soon in order to discuss "the many issues on the agenda" and reiterated the need to "continue bolstering the steadfast alliance" between the two countries, it added.

Biden declared victory in the U.S. presidential election on Nov. 7, but President Donald Trump has so far refused to concede defeat.

Earlier on Tuesday, Israel's President Reuven Rivlin spoke with Biden and congratulated him on his election victory.

"The U.S. has no stronger ally than the State of Israel," Rivlin told Biden, according to a statement issued on Rivlin's behalf.
