Russian jet escorts US reconnaissance plane over Black Sea

A Russian fighter jet accompanied a U.S. reconnaissance plane over the Black Sea on Tuesday, the Russian Defense Ministry said.
Russian airspace control detected an air target over the neutral waters of the Black Sea flying toward the Russian state border, the ministry said in a statement.
A Su-27 aircraft took off in response and identified the target as a U.S. Air Force RC-135 reconnaissance plane and escorted it until it flew away from the Russian border.
The defense ministry said its jet carried out the mission in strict compliance with international rules for the use of airspace.
Just two days ago, three Russian Su-35S fighters escorted a U.S. Air Force B-52H strategic bomber over the neutral waters of the Pacific.
