A Chinese defense spokesperson said on Thursday that the Taiwan question is purely China's internal affairs, and Japan must refrain from making any irresponsible remarks or interference.

Wu Qian, spokesperson for the Ministry of National Defense, said that as everyone knows, Japan had once snatched Taiwan from China by means of aggression.

During its colonial rule over Taiwan for half a century, Japan had committed innumerable crimes. It has no right to make any irresponsible remarks over the Taiwan question, Wu said.

The spokesperson urged the Japanese side to learn lessons from history, earnestly reflect upon historical responsibilities and take concrete actions to win back the trust of its Asian neighbors.

In response to Japan's exaggeration about its vessel and aircraft tracking the Chinese navy's flotilla with the aircraft carrier Liaoning, Wu said the training activities conducted by the aircraft carrier are completely legitimate and reasonable.

He pointed out that this is simply Japan's attempt to hype up the issue and find a pretext to pursue military expansion.
