An online activity was held on June 28 for youth from China and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) for them to share their ideas and promote youth exchanges between the two sides via short videos.

Government officials, academics, social media experts, influencers, and students from China and the UAE attended the event, hosted by China Arab TV and co-organized by Chinese Embassy in the UAE and UAE Embassy in Beijing.

"Both China and the UAE treasure innovation, and young people from both countries uphold lofty ideals and aspirations," said Zhang Yiming, Chinese ambassador to the UAE. He hoped that the youth of the two countries could work to better understand the two peoples and create more quality short videos reflecting the China-UAE friendship.

"In the past, one would have to travel long distances to gain first-hand knowledge and understanding of different cultures and peoples. Today's youth are lucky to communicate with each other through social media platforms of short videos and other digital platforms," noted Ali Obaid Al Dhaheri, UAE ambassador to China. "It is clear that the future of the UAE-China relationship will be secure in the hands of the next innovative and talented generation."

Yang Wei, director-general of China Arab TV, believed that TV dramas, short videos, and other audiovisual materials are one of the best channels for people, especially young people, to understand and learn about each other's languages and cultures, adding that China Arab TV has always been committed to introducing the two countries to each other through audiovisual products.

Other guests, including Yan Ni, deputy head of the international cooperation department with China's National Radio and Television Administration, and Liu Zhen, vice president of Kuaishou Technology, also delivered remarks.
