26 suspected members of Boko Haram arrested in northern Nigeria
MAIDUGURI, Nigeria, July 27 (Xinhua) -- At least 26 suspected members of the Boko Haram sect were arrested in an early morning raid in Maiduguri, capital of northeast Nigeria's Borno State, military authorities said Friday.
Spokesperson of the Joint Task Force (JTF) Lt. Col. Sagir Musa disclosed the news to Xinhua, saying the raid also led to the killing of two of the sect members, following an intelligence report.
According to the military spokesperson, the arrested Boko Haram members were responsible for the killing of two India nationals on Wednesday as well as other bloody attacks in the northern state.
"The raid was carried out at Bula-Bulin, Kasuwan Shanu areas of the Maiduguri metropolis and some ammunition were recovered," he added.
Musa said two AK 47 rifles, machetes, improvised explosive devices and blood-stained clothes were among ammunition discovered during the raid of the suspects hideouts.
On Wednesday, two Indian nationals working with the Gum Arabic Factory in Maiduguri were allegedly killed by gunmen suspected to be members of the deadly Boko Haram sect operating in the restive Nigerian city.
On Thursday, three people including two policemen were also killed in an overnight attack by gunmen in the state, according to police authorities. Enditem
