DAR ES SALAAM, Sept. 8 (Xinhua) -- Visiting Chinese Vice Premier Hui Liangyu met here with Ali Mohamed Shein, president of Tanzania's semi-autonomous region Zanzibar, both pledging to advance cooperation in infrastructure, sanitation and agriculture.

During the meeting on Thursday, Hui said the relations between China and Zanzibar constitute an important part of China's ties with Tanzania.

The pragmatic bilateral cooperation has yielded fruitful results, bringing real benefits to the two sides, he said.

China is ready to work with Tanzania and the Zanzibar region to cement cooperation in infrastructure, sanitary, fishing and agricultural industries and human resources, so as to lift the friendly ties of cooperation to a higher level, Hui added.

For his part, Shein said the government of Zanzibar regards China as a close friend and appreciates its assistance and support.

Zanzibar is willing to enhance cooperation with China in agriculture, sanitary and infrastructure within the framework of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation, Shein added.

Hui left Beijing on Sept. 1 for a multi-nation trip to Ethiopia, the Republic of Congo, Tanzania, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan. Enditem
