Religious group in Indian-controlled Kashmir demands punishment to makers of anti-Islam movie

SRINAGAR, Indian-controlled Kashmir, Sept. 13 (Xinhua) -- A religious group in Indian-controlled Kashmir Thursday condemned the blasphemous movie made in the United States and demanded stringent punishment to the makers.

The Jamiat-Ahli-Hadees (JAH) said Muslim sentiments were being hurt under a well planned conspiracy by such tactics.

"We will take every religious group in Kashmir into confidence before charting out a strategy as to how to protest such derogatory acts against the prophet," said Ghulam Rasool Malik, president (JAH) in Srinagar in a press conference. "We are well conversant that how from the Norwegian newspaper 'Jyllands Posten' to the latest defamatory attack by Bacile's film on YouTube, Muslim sensibilities are being hurt across the world."

Malik told media they are seeking suggestions from all schools of Muslim thought in Indian-controlled Kashmir to forge consensus "over repeated attempts of mocking Islamic faith".

"We believe in Islamic values, which suggest that only the guilty should be punished and not the ones' who are not involved," Malik said.

The trailers of the film available on video sharing website YouTube sparked violent protests in Libya, where four Americans including the U.S. ambassador Christopher Stevens were killed on Tuesday when a mob attacked the U.S. consulate in Benghazi.

The film titled "Innocence of Muslims" made by an American Jewish has portrayed Prophet of Islam - Mohammad in insulting terms.

Malik appealed the Muslim countries to give reply of this desecration in a befitting manner.

"If Americans can find out Osama why not this man who has set the whole Muslim world on fire," Malik said.

Protests are also going in Muslim dominated countries of Morocco, Sudan, Egypt, Tunisia and Yemen, reports said.

Meanwhile, the separatist hardliner Syed Ali Geelani has taken strong note of the anti-Islamic movie and called for peaceful protests after Friday afternoon congregational prayers. Enditem
