India testfires Agni-III missile
NEW DELHI, Sept. 21 (Xinhua) -- India Friday testfired its nuclear-capable Agni-III ballistic missile from a base in the eastern state of Odisha, reported Indo-Asian News Service.
The surface-to-surface missile, with a range of over 3,000 km, was fired from a launching complex of the Inner Wheeler Island near Dhamra in Bhadrak district of the state.
The test, conducted by strategic forces command of the Indian Army, was described as successful, said the report.
The latest test came two days after India test fired its second 4,000-km range Agni-IV missile from the same base.
Agni-III is capable of carrying warheads weighing up to 1.5 tons. It is 16 meters tall and weighs 48 tons. Enditem
