FRANKFURT, Oct. 9 (Xinhua) -- The Frankfurt Book Fair 2012 will have a special focus on children's and young adult media that have undergone apparent changes, according to the opening press conference on Tuesday.
Referring to the development of the publishing industry as a "Big Bang" moment, Juergen Boos, director of Frankfurt Book Fair 2012, said at the press conference that they have identified where the most manifest changes took place.
"The changes are most apparent in the field of children and young adult's media," he said, "that's why there will be a special focus on this topic at this year's Book Fair, with around 1,500 exhibitors and 340 events."
Boos said new formats need to be created constantly and popular topics and trends need to be expanded in order to keep up with the changing reading and learning habits of future generations.
The children's and young adult book area brings innovative developments into focus, highlighting the innovations the publishing industry has to look forward to in order that it introduces the media to tomorrow's global leaders, he added.
The Frankfurt Book Fair 2012 will kick off on Wednesday and conclude on Sunday. The event is expected to be attended by around 7,400 exhibitors from 104 countries, while New Zealand, as the "Guest of Honor 2012", will highlight its literary and cultural diversity with more than 300 events. Enditem
