Nigeria's oil-rich Delta State on Wednesday unveiled plans to build a wildlife park to attract more tourists.

Nkem Ajufo, the general manager of the Delta State Tourism Board, told Xinhua in Lagos, Nigeria's commercial hub, that elephants, tigers, lions, gorillas, hippopotamuses, among others, would be in the park.

She said the wildlife resort would have a five-star hotel of 50 rooms and 38 luxury guest chalets.

Ajufo said the wildlife park was one of the ongoing tourism projects in the state to boost its tourism potential.

The projects will feature amusement parks, theatres, international hotels, event centers and museums.

She said the state government would create an enabling environment for public-private-partnership to flourish; peace and security; human capital development and infrastructural development. Ajufo said the state government had also provided incentives that would facilitate speedy access to land by genuine investors in tourism.

The state government would assist investors in gaining access to development funds, she added.

According to her, the government would acquire sustainable plots of land for allocation to investors for establishment of resorts and entertainment centers. She said the government is also ready to embark on joint ventures with private investors. Endi
