South Korean shares ended higher on Wednesday, with the benchmark Korea Composite Stock Price Index rising 12.48 points, or 0.66 percent, to close at 1,912.06. Trading volume stood at 392.66 million shares worth 3.75 trillion won (3.44 billion U.S. dollars).

TOKYO -- Nikkei closed 0.98 percent higher Wednesday on dip buying. The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average closed up 86.31 points, or 0.98 percent, at 8,928.29. The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange gained 8.87 points, or 1.21 percent, to 742.33.
The turnover was about 1,111.6 billion yen (about 13.97 billion U.S. dollars).

SYDNEY -- The Australian share market closed higher on Wednesday with the benchmark S&P/ASX200 index rising 31.3 points, or 0.7 percent, to 4,517 points, while the broader All Ordinaries index growing 29.7 points, or 0.66 percent, to 4,535.4 points.
