Israeli war jets carried out four successive airstrikes on various targets in Gaza Strip on Saturday night, which left at least one person killed and three others wounded, medics and security sources said.

F16 warplanes and reconnaissance drones hovered over the Gaza Strip and several explosions were heard, witnesses said, adding that ambulances rushed to the targeted areas.

Security sources said that a training post for militants in the south of Gaza city was hit by an Israeli missile, while a rocket launcher was hit in northwest Gaza Strip and another training post in the north of Gaza Strip was struck.

Ashraf al-Qedra, spokesman of the Hamas-run ministry of health, told reporters that one Palestinian called Mohamed Shkoukani was killed and three others injured in the fresh Israeli airstrikes on Saturday night.

Israel carried out the airstrikes on the Gaza Strip after four Israeli army soldiers were injured when some Palestinian militants targeted their jeep near the fence of borders between eastern Gaza and Israel. Four Palestinians were then killed and more than 30 wounded in an Israeli retaliative tanks shelling right after the ambush on the jeep.

Abu Ali Mustafa Brigades, the armed wing of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) claimed in a leaflet sent to reporters the responsibility for the attack on the jeep.

In October, Hamas movement, which rules the Gaza Strip and the Israel Army, had reached an aural calm agreement that was brokered by Egypt. But the deal was apparently violated on Saturday. Endi
