Sochi would sell over 100,00 tickets for test events ahead of the upcoming 2014 Winter Olympics, local government said Tuesday.
Russian Black Sea resort of Sochi, also the host city of the 22nd Winter Games, was expected to hold some 60 test events ahead of the Olympics. In winter 2012-2013, a series of test competitions will be held in the Olympics venues.
Major events, including the Grand Prix finals of figure skating in December, biathlon World Cup in March and the under-18 ice hockey World Championships in April would require tickets. Other events would be either closed door or free of entrance, said the Sochi city government.
Around 73,000 tickets would be sold through the Olympic organizing committee while the rest 33,000 would be distributed through local authorities, local media reported.
Under the theme of "Hot. Cool. Yours.", the Sochi Olympics will feature 98 medal events, which is 12 more than those of the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver, Canada. Endi
