A male coach of the Shanghai women's volleyball team has been fired for sexually harassment, the city's sports authorities said on Friday.

The Shanghai Administration of Sports launched an investigation after two players of the city's women volleyball team alleged that a coach had "inappropriate" comment and behavior while doing massages to them last Saturday.

"He has been fired from his coaching post as his behavior tarnished the image of Shanghai and sports," the Shanghai Administration of Sports said in a statement.

The coach, who was not named, admitted to drinking too much that night and has expressed "deep regrets" about his wrongdoing, added the statement.

The Shanghai women's volleyball team, the runner-up in the Chinese league last season, lost to Tianjin on Tuesday. Local media blamed their poor performance on the scandal. Endi
